Ítem Acceso abierto Effectiveness of physical exercise to improve the functional capacity of patients on hemodialysis(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-01-19) Huamaní Chirinos, Madeleine Ingrid; Fernandez Medina, Rebeca Epifania; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaObjective: To systematize the evidence of the effectiveness of physical exercise for improving the functional capacity of patients on hemodialysis. Materials and Methods: The systematic review of the ten articles was subjected to an analysis, using the Grade scale to identify the quality and degree of evidence, found in databases such as Scielo, Elsevier, and Google Scholar. Of the observed studies, 20% (n= 2/10) are systematic reviews, 50% (n= 5/10) are quasi-experimental studies, 10% (n= 1/10) are pre-experimental studies, 10% (n= 1/10) are randomized controlled studies, and 10% (n= 1/10) are prospective studies. According to the results obtained in this study, the studies come from the countries of Spain (70%), Chile (10%), Argentina (10%), and Germany (10%). Results: Likewise, according to the findings, 100% (n=10/10) indicate that physical exercise improves the functional capacity of the patient. Conclusion: 10 of the articles conclude that physical activity is effective in increasing the functional capacity of patients on hemodialysis, except for patients with myocardial infarction issues, unstable angina, lower limb amputation, decompensated diabetes mellitus, neurological impairment with functional deficits, musculoskeletal alterations, cardiorespiratory issues, uncontrolled hypertension, neuropathies, and severe renal osteodystrophy.
