Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge and nursing practices in the prevention of pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit of the San Juan de Lurigancho hospital - 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-01-30) Ferreñan Rodriguez, Ana Maria; Pretell Aguilar, Rosa MariaObjective: To determine the relationship between knowledge and practices regarding preventive measures for ventilator-associated pneumonia among nursing professionals at the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital. Materials and Methods: This research will have a quantitative approach, with a cross-sectional correlational design. The population consists of 50 nursing professionals working in the intensive care unit of San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital. The participating professionals were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. One inclusion criterion is those who voluntarily accept to participate in the study and sign the informed consent form. The techniques to be used in the fieldwork are surveys and observation, which will provide important data for the study. To measure knowledge about preventive measures for ventilator-associated pneumonia, the data collection instrument will be a questionnaire by Danixa Beatriz De la Cruz Vilca, validated with a result of 0.83% and a reliability of 0.92%. It consists of 12 questions, each worth two points, for a total of 24 points, and will be rated as excellent (18-24), average (9-17), and poor (0-8). To measure practices, the observation technique by Alca Montoya and Lizzet Emmily will be applied, using an intervention checklist for the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia called STOP NAV. It consists of 15 questions, with a score of 0-15, and correct answers are marked with "YES" or "NO," with a cross (X) according to each intervention.
