Publicación Acceso abierto Determinación de trazas de óxido de etileno en suturas quirúrgicas fabricadas por dos laboratorios de dispositivos médicos de fabricación nacional, agosto 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-04) Flores Arias, Noelia Angela; Silva Florián, Rosa Esther; Lizano Gutiérrez, Jesús VíctorThe present research aimed to determine the concentration of ethylene oxide residues or traces present in nylon surgical sutures. The sample was acquired in August 2018 from Farmacia Universal in downtown Lima; however, the sutures had been manufactured in July 2015 and January–February 2018. A total of 24 nylon surgical suture samples were obtained, with all necessary safety measures taken for their transport to the LABICER laboratory for subsequent analysis using the gas chromatography method with flame ionization detector (GC-FID). The results showed that 100% of the nylon surgical suture samples manufactured by the Peruvian laboratories Tagumedica S.A. and Unilene S.A.C. did not exceed the Maximum Residual Limit established by the FDA, which is 250 ppm per small device (<10 grams).
