    Potentially inappropriate prescribing (PIP) in older adults, according to the Beers criteria, is a very common problem today. The objective of this research was to determine the percentage of PIP according to the Beers criteria in older adults who visit a drugstore chain in the Santiago de Surco district from March to September 2020. Method: This study used an inductive method with a quantitative approach and a descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional, and non-participatory observational design. The sample consisted of 380 medical prescriptions, and the sampling was non-probabilistic, including those who met the inclusion criteria. Results: 69.2% of older adults had PIP according to the Beers criteria. The age range with the highest PIP was 65–70 years old (52.9%), with females having a higher percentage at 61.6%. The pharmacological group with the highest frequency of PIP was anxiolytics (39.4%), and the most common specific medication was Alprazolam (19.2%). Conclusion: The rate of potentially inappropriate prescribing according to the Beers criteria in older adults was 69.2%.
