Materials and methods: Quantitative approach, descriptive type; cross-sectional, non-experimental methodological design, with a population of 191 patients from the surgical center, meeting the criteria (inclusion - exclusion), the technique applied was the survey and to measure the level, an instrument called the nurse-patient relationship questionnaire was applied. , from Hildegard Peplau's theory, this comprises 17 items grouped into 4 dimensions. Results: At the level of interrelation between the nursing team and the surgical patient, 53.4% obtained a poor relationship; 23.6% regular and 23.0% good relationship. The orientation phase dimensions, 58.6% obtained a good relationship; 24.1% regular relationship and 17.3% poor relationship. In the identification phase, 49.7% obtained a poor relationship; 40.3% good and 9.9% regular relationship. In the utilization phase, 45.0% good relationship; 44.5% poor and 10.5% regular relationship. In the resolution phase, 79.1% obtained a good relationship; 14.7% regular and 6.3% poor relationship. Conclusions: The level of interrelation between the nursing team and the surgical patient presents a poor relationship. Regarding the orientation phase dimensions, it presents a good relationship. The identification and use phase, poor relationship. The resolution phase presents a good relationship.
