Ítem Acceso abierto Coping with stress and psychological well-being in young people in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, 2021(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-02-28) Flores Marcos, Steven Virgilio; Candela Ayllón, Victor EduardoThe aim of the research was to understand how stress coping relates to psychological well-being in young people from San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, 2021. The study used a quantitative approach, employing a descriptive-correlation method and a non-experimental design with a single measurement. The sample consisted of 167 participants who were assessed using the Stress Coping Questionnaire (CAE) and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. Results showed a significant and direct correlation between problem-focused stress coping and psychological well-being (r = 0.499; p < 0.05), while emotion-focused coping had a significant but inverse correlation (rho = -0.534; p < 0.05). No significant correlation was found between other coping methods and psychological well-being (r = 0.138; p > 0.05). The study concluded that those who cope with stress by focusing on the problem show better psychological well-being, whereas those who focus on emotions tend to have lower well-being.
