Ítem Acceso abierto Factors associated with the abandonment of the use of temporary contraceptive methods in women according to scientific evidence in the years 2018 - 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-07-18) Gómez Aguilar, Lisset Dagiane; Reyes Serrano, Bertha NathalyObjective: Identify the factors associated with the discontinuation of temporary contraceptive methods in women. Materials and Methods: This study employed a qualitative approach, conducting a systematic review of various bibliographic sources. A total of 58 scientific articles published between 2018 and 2022 were reviewed. Results: The sociopersonal factor was the most predominant in discontinuing contraceptive methods. Within this category, age, education level, occupation, religion, myths, beliefs, and partner/family influence were identified as significant contributors to discontinuation. Obstetric factors included parity, age at first sexual intercourse, and sexual frequency. Adverse factors were primarily menstrual bleeding disorders, weight gain, and headaches, with menstrual disturbances being the most frequently cited reason for discontinuation, followed by sociopersonal factors. Conclusions: Sociopersonal, obstetric, and adverse factors influence the discontinuation of temporary contraceptive methods in women, according to the reviewed scientific evidence.
