    Uso racional de las benzodiacepinas en pacientes que acuden a la farmacia de la Clínica San Martín en el distrito de San Juan de Lurigancho. Lima 2023

    The objective of this research was to determine the rational use of benzodiazepines in patients who attend the pharmacy of Clínica San Martín in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho. Methodology: A deductive study was conducted with a quantitative approach, applied type, non-experimental cross-sectional design, and descriptive level. A validated questionnaire was used, and its reliability was confirmed through Cronbach’s Alpha, obtaining a value of 0.847, which made the instrument reliable. The sample consisted of 122 patients. Results: Regarding the rational use of benzodiazepines, 55.7% sometimes made rational use of these medications, 29.5% always, and 14.8% never. About 50% reported that they were sometimes informed about possible interactions between benzodiazepines and other drugs. Alprazolam was the most consumed benzodiazepine (41%), followed by clonazepam (36.1%). Additionally, 58.2% indicated that they sometimes used an expired prescription, and 75.4% reported that the medication sometimes had no effect, leading them to double the indicated dose. Conclusion: It was concluded that among the surveyed patients attending the pharmacy of the clinic, 29.5% made rational use of benzodiazepines; however, it is concerning that 70.5% of this population made irrational use of these medications.
