Ítem Acceso abierto The use of ICT and its relationship with basic language skills in students of the fourth grade of the José María Carbonell-Colombia Educational Institution, 2018(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-08-10) Gaitán Mora, Williams; Olaya Vergara, Alix Yohana; Méndez Toledo, Heimer AliObjective: Determine the relationship that exists between the use of ICT and basic language skills in fourth grade students of the Educational Institution "José María Carbonell-Colombia, 2018. Methodology: non-experimental research, correlational level with a quantitative approach because statistics will be used to check hypotheses. The study population consisted of 86 students from the fourth grade of the Rafael RochaJosé María Carbonell Institution. (53 men and 33 women). The variables analyzed were the use of ICT and basic language skills. In the investigation, a general hypothesis and four specific hypotheses were formulated. Results: The general hypothesis was confirmed, which allows affirming that there is a positive and significant relationship between the use of ICT and basic language skills in the fourth grade students of the José María Carbonell Educational Institution. Likewise, specific hypotheses were confirmed, where there is a positive and significant relationship between audiovisual media and textual production, as well as textual comprehension and interpretation; a positive and moderate relationship between computer services and the learning of literature, as well as with the identification of the media. The hypothesis was made applying the Rho Spearman test. Conclusions: The correlation coefficient rho = 0.866 and a value p = 0.000 (p <0.05) allows to affirm that there is a positive and significant relationship between the use of ICT and basic language skills in the fourth grade students of the Educational Institution José María Carbonell, Colombia-2018. Highlighting that said coefficient is of a high magnitude
