    Poor prescribing is an avoidable event that involves processes a medication follows from its prescription by a doctor to its dispensing. The objective was to evaluate the relationship between poor prescribing and dispensing errors. Methodology: The approach was quantitative, with a descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational type, a basic level, and a non-experimental design. The population consisted of 300 medical prescriptions obtained from 12 drugstores in the Micaela Bastidas I shantytown in the Ate-Vitarte district. Results: All of the medical prescriptions had errors in prescribing and dispensing. Based on the dimensions studied, 91% (273) had omissions in prescriber data, including the doctor's signature, seal, and the prescription's issuance date. 89% (267) lacked prescriber legibility, showing illegible handwriting and the use of an inadequate format. 69.33% (208) failed to comply with prescription validation, meaning they did not include patient data, health facility data, or the current date. Furthermore, 63.33% (190) showed faults in medication verification by the dispenser, who did not verify the international nonproprietary name, concentration, and pharmaceutical form of the medication. Conclusion: All of the medical prescriptions had errors in prescribing and dispensing at the drugstores of the Micaela Bastidas I shantytown in the Ate-Vitarte district of Lima in 2021.
