The objective of this research is to determine the influence of the teaching guides in the learning of the English language vocabulary on sixth grade students of the Technical Educational Institution. San José of the Municipality of Fresno-Tolima. The type of research is applied, since its purpose is to analyze and sustain the use of teaching guides by experimenting based on a strategy where the control group differs from an experimental group in terms of English vocabulary learning. The design used in the research is quasi-experimental of the longitudinal-panel type and the type of research is descriptive-explanatory. This research will be carried out through the design of four learning guides based on four basic vocabulary topics with students grade 6-1 control group (Traditional Methodology) and 6-2 experimental group (Receivers strategy) San José Educational Institution of the municipality of Fresno – Tolima, to which a pre-test and a post-test were applied based on learning guides according to ICFES parameters in order to evaluate these activities as a strategy for the development of English skills. A quantitative analysis was performed between the experimental group and the control group. The obtained results indicated that the learning guides are a strategy that improves the teaching - learning process of the vocabulary and at the same time facilitates the development of the competences in the English area. The population under study is conformed by grades 6-1 and 6-2 school calendar 2016 with a total of 63 students of which when applying a probabilistic sample throws us a total of 54 students.
