Material and methods: Systematic review that synthesizes the results of primary research. Like all systematic reviews, it is an essential part of evidence-based nursing due to its rigorous methodology, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions in articles. Results: It was found that 50% of the articles consider that automated washing is more effective than manual washing; 16.67% of the articles found effectiveness in the sterilization of surgical instruments, when manual and automatic washing are combined; 16.67% found that one of the contributing effects to produce adverse effects is incorrect cleaning and/or disinfection and a similar percentage found that it is necessary to improve the quality of cleaning and disinfection in surgery rooms and measure the biological load by photoluminometry in instruments. reuse surgical Conclusions: Automatic washing is more effective than manual washing.
