Ítem Acceso abierto Factors associated with adverse events in the surgical center(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Gonzales Flores, Jhon Dany; Rosas Aparcana, Karol Guliana; Mendigure Fernandez, JulioObjective: To systematize the evidence on the factors associated with adverse events in the surgical center. Materials and Methods: A review of 10 scientific articles on the factors associated with adverse events in surgical centers was conducted. These articles were found in the following databases: LILACS, PubMed, Medline, and Cochrane Plus, published in the last 10 years. Results: Of the 100% of articles included in the systematic review, 50% of the studies report that the factors associated with surgical adverse events include patient age (20%), patient safety compliance (10%), comorbidity (10%), incorrect use of medical devices (5%), prolonged operative time (5%), and difficulty in teamwork. These studies agree that patient age is one of the most important factors related to adverse events in surgical centers. Conclusion: The factors associated with surgical adverse events include non-operative errors and errors in surgical technique. However, non-operative errors, such as patient age and comorbidity, caused more frequent adverse events than errors in surgical technique. This study found that the incorrect use of medical devices is the main cause of adverse events and incidents, which implies that institutional activities should be strengthened to provide training on the proper use of medical devices to improve care quality and prevent future errors.Ítem Acceso abierto Factors associated with adverse events in the surgical center(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2017-07-22) Gonzales Flores, Jhon Dany; Rosas Aparcana, Karol Guliana; Mendigure Fernandez, JulioObjective: To systematize the evidence on the factors associated with adverse events in the surgical center.
