The objective of this study was to evaluate prescribing errors in medical prescriptions filled at the pharmacy service of the Santa Anita Municipal Polyclinic. For this, an observational, cross-sectional, and basic study was conducted. The sample consisted of 255 medical prescriptions, and a data collection form adapted by the researcher was used. The percentage of prescriptions with errors in prescriber data was 7.1%. The percentage of prescriptions with errors in patient data was 73.7%, with the most prominent being in the gender indicator (64.7%) and diagnosis (31%). The percentage of prescriptions with errors in medication data was 34.5%, with the most prominent being in the concentration (19.2%), the INN (International Nonproprietary Name) (16.5%), and the route of administration (9.4%). The percentage of prescriptions with errors in legibility was 7.5%. It is concluded that there is a high percentage of prescribing errors in the patient data dimension, which demonstrates a failure to complete all required data on the medical prescription.
