    Evaluación de los factores de riesgo por exposición al benceno en la industria farmacéutica para evitar la neurotoxicidad 2021: revisión sistemática

    The objective of this research was to evaluate whether risk factors for benzene exposure in the pharmaceutical industry allow for the prevention of neurotoxicity, given that this solvent is frequently handled, especially in the quality control area. Methodology: This was a descriptive, cross-sectional level study with a quantitative approach, conducted through a systematic review of 25 research articles and theses on the subject. A bibliographic search was applied in databases such as PubMed, SCielo, Redalyc, and Scopus, and the information was reviewed and analyzed using inclusion and exclusion criteria before being processed. Results: A low level of risk factor was found, at 56%. Additionally, 88% of the cases reviewed by the different authors did not utilize personal protective equipment (PPE). Furthermore, the most common route of benzene exposure was inhalation at 60%. Conclusion: The risk factors for benzene exposure were evaluated, identifying the routes of exposure, exposure levels, and the correct use of personal protective equipment, thus preventing occupationally exposed individuals from suffering health damage, especially to the nervous system.
