    Effectiveness of a scale for pain assessment in neonatal intensive care units

    Materials and methods: 10 scientific articles related to the evidence about the effectiveness of the pain assessment scale in the intensive care unit belonging to the Cochrane, Lilacs, Scielo, Medline Pubmed data were systematically reviewed, being analyzed through of the Grade scale, in order to study its strength and quality of evidence. Results: In all scientific articles, the effectiveness of the pain scales is corroborated, since results are observed when pain is stimulated to identify the magnitude of this indicator in neonates; 10% of the articles record them in the notes. of nursing, another 10% indicate that different pain scales should be used according to the gestational age of the neonate. Conclusions: The effectiveness of the pain assessment scale in neonatal intensive care units is evident, but not all institutions apply it for the assessment of neonates and thus reduce the pain they perceive.
