(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-12-10) Guerrero Saravia, María del Rosario; Gonzales Saldaña, Susan Haydee
Nursing care is the central focus of the nursing profession, conceptualized as a group of activities performed by the nurse during patient care and attention. Additionally, the level of patient satisfaction is an indicator that validates nursing care. Objective: To determine the relationship between nursing care and the level of satisfaction of external users in the day surgery area of a private institution in Lima, 2021. Materials and methods: This study follows a descriptive design, with a quantitative approach, correlational level, and non-experimental nature. The sample consisted of 80 post-operative external users from the day surgery area. Two validated instruments were applied: the first to measure nursing care, which had 24 items, and the second to measure user satisfaction, which had 19 items. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program. Results: The analysis revealed that 45.0% of external users rated nursing care as moderately favorable, while 35.0% rated their satisfaction level as regular. Regarding the dimensions of nursing care: Human dimension: 42.5% rated it as unfavorable. Timeliness dimension: 42.5% rated it as moderately favorable. Continuity dimension: 56.3% rated it as moderately favorable. Safety dimension: 41.3% rated it as favorable. In all four dimensions, the level of satisfaction was rated as regular. To determine the correlation between nursing care and the level of satisfaction, the Pearson Chi-square (X2) test was applied, yielding a p-value of ≤ 0.05, indicating statistical significance. Conclusion: It is concluded that there is a relationship between nursing care and the level of satisfaction of external users in the day surgery area of a private institution in Lima, 2021.
