Publicación Acceso abierto Relación del riesgo coronario, perfil lipídico y glucemia en mujeres pre y post menopaúsicas de la asociación de pobladores La Unión en Pachacútec – Ventanilla en septiembre del 2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Guzmán Quesquén, María Salomé; Marchan Tenorio, Omar Enrique; Parreño Tipián, Juan ManuelA study was conducted to determine the lipid profile of a population of 200 pre- and postmenopausal women from the Asociación de Pobladores La Unión in Pachacútec-Ventanilla, in September 2014. Data analysis indicated that most participants presented desirable values of glucose (70–90 mg/dL), total cholesterol (<200 mg/dL), triglycerides (150 mg/dL), VLDL-cholesterol (5–40 mg/dL), and LDL-cholesterol (<100 mg/dL). However, 82.5% of women showed HDL-cholesterol levels below the desirable value (50 mg/dL), resulting in 25.0% of the population being at moderate atherogenic risk. Among premenopausal women, 91.9% had desirable total cholesterol levels, while in postmenopausal women only 71.1% were within the desirable range; 10.5% had elevated levels (>240 mg/dL), and 18.4% had moderately elevated levels (200–239 mg/dL). In contrast, no elevated values were found in premenopausal women, and only 7.0% had moderately elevated levels. A statistically significant correlation was observed. Total cholesterol values tended to increase with age, whereas HDL-cholesterol values decreased. Reduced HDL-cholesterol levels were found in both groups (72.1% in premenopausal and 90.4% in postmenopausal women), although no statistically significant correlation was identified. Coronary risk was higher in postmenopausal women, classifying them as more prone to future coronary events compared to premenopausal women.
