Ítem Acceso abierto Influence of flavonoid intake on the risk of developing colorectal cancer in adults.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-05-30) Hamasaki Matos, Angie Joyce; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetColorectal cancer is classified as the third most common cancer and the second most deadly in the world and dietary components can be protective factors. Therefore, the present academic work aims to evaluate updated evidence through a critical clinical commentary on the influence of flavonoid consumption in reducing the risk of developing colorectal cancer in adults. To do so, the five stages of NuBE were used and, through the CASPe tool, the scientific articles were classified according to their degree of evidence. From the review and evaluation process, the article Dietary Flavonoids and the Risk of Colorectal Cancer: An Updated Meta-Analysis of Epidemiological Studies was selected. The study structures, describes and analyzes the data in a manner relevant to the type of study that the authors carry out. The statistical analysis is presented in a concise and precise manner, which would allow the study to be replicated. The discussion raised by the authors highlights the main findings and puts them into context by comparing them with similar works previously published. Finally, it can be concluded that it is necessary to generate more high-level scientific evidence that allows extrapolation of results to the general population.
