Publicación Acceso abierto Representaciones sociales sobre la formación por competencias y su relación con la inserción laboral en estudiantes de psicología de una universidad privada de Lima - 2019(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-06-30) Hidalgo Henríquez, Catalina Narda; Gao Chung, Jadmi GinaThe aim of this research was to study the social representations of psychology students, regarding the competency-based training offered at a private university of Lima and its relation with labor insertion. In order to understand the competencybased approach from the students' subjective viewpoint and experience, a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design has been used. A semistructured interview guide was designed and applied to 11 psychology students. The data obtained shows that social representations of competence-based training are in gestation. This is anchored in three axes: the idea of competing among several people to excel, practical training and individual performance. Students have little information regarding this approach, which is related to the work environment and to university training. With regard to beliefs about competence-based training, it was associated with several representational fields such as: (a) to compete/being better, (b) individual development, dealing better in the academic and social fields/ involving human being dimensions, (c) type of training/new forms of education and (d) performance of various activities. The results also show that there is a favorable attitude towards competence-based training in higher education, but this attitude is stronger when the incorporation of this approach is done by the university itself. Regarding the attitude towards the competency based-approach and its relation to labor market insertion, it is also favorable but not strong.
