Ítem Acceso abierto Ergonomic risk factors and quality of life in nursing staff from Saint Joseph Hospital of Callao, 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-06-14) Horigome Rodriguez, Cynthia Araseli; Vera Arriola, Juan AméricoErgonomics applied to the workplace considers not only biomechanical load but also environmental conditions that interfere with the proper performance of activities, thus being present in any working condition. Health professionals are exposed to various ergonomic risk factors for occupational health, partly due to direct contact with patients, but also because of the particularities of the job. Among the most common physical risk factors are postural alterations, repetitive movements, prolonged postures, and improper handling of tools or implements used in the workplace. Exposure to these risk factors can lead to musculoskeletal disorders. Therefore, ergonomic risk factors—the likelihood of suffering damage or injury due to conditions directly associated with the workplace—are not foreign to this group and tend to be high. Preventive measures should aim to reduce ergonomic risk to safeguard the worker's physical health as well as other affected areas.
