    Uso del Tropaeolum Tuberosum “Mashua” en la medicina tradicional e Hiperplasia Prostática Benigna en los residentes en Lima del departamento de Huancavelica, 2023

    The present research work aims to determine the relationship between the use of Tropaeolum tuberosum (mashua) and benign prostatic hyperplasia in residents of Lima from the department of Huancavelica in 2023. The methodology used was hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative correlational approach, non-experimental design, and cross-sectional cut. The study was conducted with a sample of 200 participants over 35 years old in the city of Lima, to whom a 22-question questionnaire was applied. The results were processed using the statistical software SPSS version 25, applying hypothesis testing through Spearman’s correlation table. The results show that the use of Tropaeolum tuberosum (mashua) in benign prostatic hyperplasia has a favorable level. In the dimensions of nutrition, phytotherapy, urinary symptoms, and health, a good level of satisfaction was indicated, as the null hypothesis was rejected with a probability value (p = 0.01) lower than the significance level (0.05), showing that the correlation is significant at the 0.01 level. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis regarding the evaluation between both variables is accepted. Conclusion: The surveyed individuals demonstrated positive results regarding the use of Tropaeolum tuberosum (mashua) in traditional medicine and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
