Ítem Acceso abierto Relationship between the pregestational nutritional status of adolescent pregnant women with the weight of the newborn at the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, Lima - 2023(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2024-04-17) Huaman Palma, Jhoan Cesar; Mauricio Alza, Saby MarisolAdolescent pregnant women face higher complications, such as low birth weight caused by multiple risk factors, one of which could be the mother's nutritional status. Objective: To determine the relationship between the pregestational nutritional status of adolescent pregnant women and newborn weight at the San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital, Lima, in May-June 2023. Methodology: This is a basic research study with a non-experimental, prospective, and cross-sectional design. Clinical records of 48 adolescent pregnant women attended at San Juan de Lurigancho Hospital in May and June 2023 were reviewed. The Spearman test was used to test the hypothesis. Results: The average age of our study population was 17.20+0.79 years, with an average BMI of 23.94+3.76 kg/m2, a gestational age of 36.41+3.44 weeks, hemoglobin of 11.55+0.94 g/dl, and blood glucose of 87.10+13.10 mg/dl. Regarding newborns, 54.17% were female, and the average birth weight was 3.339.79+460.42 grams. Conclusions: In our study, there is a positive direct relationship between nutritional status (BMI) and newborn weight.
