The lack of guidance and education regarding family planning methods among women of reproductive age who work as vendors at the Señor de los Milagros Market in Ventanilla could lead to improper use of these methods and result in adverse effects on their sexual and reproductive health. The purpose of this research is to assess the level of knowledge and use of contraceptive methods within this population group. The study is classified as basic research, follows a deductive approach, and is conducted under a non-experimental design, focusing on a sample of 150 vendors from the mentioned market. The findings indicate that 60% of participants have some knowledge about contraceptives, while 40% lack such information. A total of 56.7% understand how these methods work, and 59.3% are aware of their advantages and disadvantages. Regarding effectiveness, 52.7% have knowledge of it, and 59.3% report using contraceptives. The natural method is the most frequently used by 40.7%, and 65.3% employ some form of contraception during sexual intercourse. Additionally, 47.3% of respondents indicated that social factors significantly influence their choice of contraceptive method. In conclusion, the level of awareness and use of contraceptive methods among women vendors of reproductive age at the Señor de los Milagros Market in Ventanilla highlights the need to improve sexual and reproductive health education, as well as access to accurate and timely information, in order to promote more informed decisions and effective preventive practices.
