    Manejo de antihipertensivos en personas de la tercera edad atendidos en el centro de salud Laderas de Chillón – Puente Piedra, en el año 2019

    OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the management of antihypertensive drugs in elderly patients who were treated at the Laderas de Chillón – Puente Piedra Health Center in 2019. METHOD: The study was scientific-deductive with a non-experimental, descriptive, retrospective design. The population consisted of 70 hypertensive patients. A data collection form, an instrument created to reflect the dimensions of antihypertensive management, was used, and the information was compiled from the Health Center's database. RESULTS: The most used pharmaceutical form was tablets (42.9%). The most frequently used medication was enalapril (47.1%), and 55.7% of medication doses were administered every 24 hours. The prescribed indication for 62.9% was hypertension, and the most frequent adverse drug reaction (ADR) was headache (44.3%). Furthermore, 100% were administered orally, and the treatment duration for 51.4% was indefinite. 88.6% were prescribed by a general practitioner. CONCLUSIONS: The management of antihypertensive drugs in the elderly, according to the results, is appropriate.
