Ítem Acceso abierto Self-care capacity and healthy lifestyles in the elderly of the Huayllay Grande Huancavelica district.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-06-17) Huincho Antonio, Beatriz; Palomino Taquire, RewardsThe global aging population is continuously increasing, as by 2050, the population of adults aged 60 and over will increase by 21%, equivalent to 2 billion people. Furthermore, this increase will occur more rapidly in developed countries. Similarly, in the district where the study will take place, there is a majority of older adults. This is why this research aimed to determine the relationship between self-care capacity and healthy lifestyle of older adults in the district of Huayllay Grande, Huancavelica. Materials and Methods: This research was quantitative, descriptive, correlational, and cross-sectional. The Spearman's Rho correlation was used to correlate the variables and test the hypothesis with a significance level of 0.05. Regarding the general data results, 55% of the older adults are female, and 45% are male; more than half (51%) have a partially adequate self-care capacity, with a tendency toward adequate capacity (36%). A good positive correlation was found between self-care capacity and healthy lifestyle [Rho = 0.730; p-value = 0.000]. It was concluded that there is a positive correlation (Rho = 0.730) between the self-care capacity and healthy lifestyle variables, which is an adequate positive correlation, and (Sig. 0.000), where higher scores in a healthy lifestyle are associated with greater self-care capacity and vice versa. Furthermore, the researcher's hypothesis was accepted, and the null hypothesis was rejected.
