The research was of an applied type, with a correlational descriptive research level and a cross-sectional nonexperimental design, the sample consisted of 101 teachers, to whom the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory (I-CE) was applied for adults with 133 items and measure emotional intelligence (EI) as well as a self-elaborated questionnaire with 44 items based on the competence framework of the teacher of technological higher education in the area of teaching (MINEDU, 2019). The results were obtained using the Spearman correlation coefficient with a significance level of 0.05, resulting in a value of Rho = 0.333 with p = 0.01, which indicates the existence of a significant relationship between emotional intelligence and teaching performance at the Instituto Carrión. Concluding that there is a positive and significant, but weak, relationship between these variables, which has demonstrated the hypothesis of the existence of a relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and teacher performance.
