    Effectiveness of music therapy in improving depressive symptoms in elderly patients with dementia

    Music therapy is effective because it offers various benefits, it improves depressive moods, reduces anxiety and agitation, and improves cognitive function, providing a better quality of life to older adults with dementia. Evidence indicates that at least five sessions of a music therapy intervention probably reduces depressive symptoms, but has little effect on agitation or aggression. Nursing staff should be prepared to implement, develop and lead a Music Therapy program aimed at older adult patients with dementia, which should have five sessions; At the same time, it is a profitable therapy, it is low-cost, pleasant, non-invasive and easy to sustain over time.
