    Patologías hepáticas y su relación con la polifarmacia en adultos mayores que se atienden en una clínica privada de Surco, 2022

    The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between polypharmacy and liver pathologies in older adults treated at a private clinic in Surco in 2022. Methodology: A quantitative approach was used with a correlational and retrospective design. A sample of 141 medical records of patients over 60 years of age was collected. The results obtained through statistical tests (Chi-square, Phi, and Cramer’s V) demonstrated a strong correlation between polypharmacy and liver pathologies in older adults at the private clinic in Surco. Therefore, it is concluded that polypharmacy is significantly related to liver pathologies in these patients. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the simultaneous treatment of multiple pathologies with the use of medications in older adults often results in negative side effects on certain organs. For this reason, proper care and supervision by healthcare professionals are necessary to prevent potential health problems related to polypharmacy in these patients. The results of this research are relevant for improving medical care and preventing health issues associated with polypharmacy in older adults.
