Ítem Acceso abierto Quality of skin-to-skin contact between mother and neonate in the delivery room of the Supe Laura Esther Rodriguez Dulanto Hospital, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-10-11) Julca Cadillo, Luisa Isabel; Mori Castro, Jaime AlbertoINTRODUCTION: Skin-to-skin contact is a practice that has been used since the dawn of humanity when all births were natural and not institutionalized as they are today. National and international health organizations, through local programs, aim to reduce infant mortality and morbidity by implementing strategies aimed at strengthening early breastfeeding, ensuring the newborn's "first intake" of colostrum, and promoting exclusive and adequate breastfeeding. Additionally, skin-to-skin contact provides other benefits, such as those from the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative. Scientific evidence shows the multiple benefits of this wonderful skin-to-skin technique. OBJECTIVE: To determine the quality of skin-to-skin contact between mothers and newborns in the delivery room of the Supe Laura Esther Rodríguez Dulanto Hospital, 2020. METHODOLOGY: Quantitative approach, observational descriptive design, and cross-sectional. The population consists of 80 mother-newborn pairs. The survey technique was used as the instrument for data collection, which was validated by its author.
