Publicación Acceso abierto Actividad antidepresiva del extracto etanólico de las hojas de Manihot esculenta Cranz “yuca” en ratones(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2023-02-20) Gallardo Delgado, Shirley Jasmin; Justil Guerrero, Hugo JesúsDepression is a mood disorder characterized by feelings of sadness, with episodes lasting weeks or months, often leading to suicidal thoughts. According to the "WHO," this disease is very common worldwide, affecting more than 280 million people. Over half of those affected do not receive treatment due to a lack of resources or misdiagnosis. Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the antidepressant activity of the ethanolic extract of Manihot esculenta Cranz leaves ("cassava") in mice. Methodology: The study was experimental and quantitative. The leaves were collected in the district of La Merced, Province of Chanchamayo, Department of Junín. Secondary metabolites of the ethanolic extract were identified. The antidepressant activity (AAD) was evaluated using the forced swimming test in 30 albino mice at doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg of the ethanolic extract administered orally, compared to fluoxetine at 20 mg/kg. Immobility time, swimming time, and climbing time were measured over 15 minutes. Results: The lowest average immobility time was observed in the group treated with the ethanolic extract at 200 mg/kg, with 13.5 seconds, while the control group showed a significantly higher immobility time of 104.2 seconds. The swimming time was highest in the group treated with 200 mg/kg of the ethanolic extract, averaging 177.5 seconds, as was the climbing time, averaging 49.0 seconds. Conclusion: The ethanolic extract at a concentration of 200 mg/kg has antidepressant activity comparable to fluoxetine.Publicación Acceso abierto Actividad antioxidante y antimicrobiana de Schkuhria pinnata "Canchalagua" en estudios in vitro: una revisión sistemática(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-06) Huamán Segura, Kattia Vanessa; Meza Carhuamaca, Ana Elizabeth; Justil Guerrero, Hugo JesúsThe plant species Schkuhria Pinnata, 'Canchalagua,' is traditionally used for its antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. The objective was to evaluate the efficacy of the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of Schkuhria Pinnata, 'Canchalagua,' in inhibiting bacterial growth and reducing free radicals. A systematic intervention review study was conducted. Eligibility criteria were initially established, followed by a search in the Renati, Alicia (Concytec), Scielo, PubMed, Elsevier, Lilacs, Virtual Health Library (VHL), and Google Scholar databases. Studies were selected using the PRISMA method. A total of 103 articles were obtained, from which 11 studies were selected for data extraction and bias assessment, described by the Joanna Briggs Institute (2014). Metabolites were identified and quantified in different parts of the plant using precipitation, coloration, foaming, Folin-Ciocalteu, and aluminum chloride colorimetric methods. For the evaluation of antioxidant activity, the DPPH and ABTS methods were used, and the extracts showed reduction of free radicals. For antimicrobial activity, agar diffusion and dilution methods were employed. The extracts presented inhibition against Propionibacterium acnes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Mycobacterium smegmatis, Malephora lutea, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Metabolites responsible for the antioxidant and antimicrobial activity were identified, and Schkuhria Pinnata, 'Canchalagua,' demonstrated efficacy in reducing free radicals and inhibiting bacteria.Publicación Acceso abierto Automedicación con AINEs en usuarios con patologías osteomusculares que acuden a boticas Inkafarma Villasol – Los Olivos – Lima Metropolitana, 2021–2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-10-05) Consuelo Cruz, Haydee Isandra; Orihuela Juica, Mery Aracelly; Justil Guerrero, Hugo JesúsThe objective of this research was to "Determine the relationship between self-medication with NSAIDs and musculoskeletal pathologies among users visiting Inkafarma Villasol Drugstores in Los Olivos, Metropolitan Lima, 2021–2022."
