    Older adults make up a significant percentage of our society, making it essential to ensure they have a good quality of life. At this age, there is a higher risk of certain diseases, particularly cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, due to a decrease in functional capacity, which decreases by 9-10% each year, impacting their ability to perform activities of daily living and leading to sedentary behavior. The 6-minute walk test helps assess the functional capacity of elderly adults. Also, dyspnea is a common symptom in older adults due to deterioration of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, with smoking being one of the causes. Using the MMRC scale, it is possible to assess the degree of dyspnea. A study conducted in Sweden found that dyspnea is more prevalent in older females due to reduced lung volumes influenced by size and ethnicity, highlighting the importance of physical exercise.
