Ítem Acceso abierto Knowledge that nurses have about the aspiration of secretions and practices in intubated adult patients in the intensive care unit at a National Hospital in Lima, 2022(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2022-07-31) López Nicolás, Magdalena; Cárdenas de Fernández, María HildaIntroduction: Mucus suctioning is a vital procedure in the care of critically ill patients to maintain respiratory airway patency. The nursing management of these patients requires high technical skills in suctioning, as it has been identified as a potentially harmful procedure associated with various complications such as trauma, bronchoconstriction, hypoxemia, cardiac arrest, and death. Objective: To determine the relationship between the knowledge that nurses have about secretion aspiration and the practices in intubated adult patients in the Intensive Care Unit of a National Hospital in Lima, 2022. Methods: The research method is hypothetical-deductive, with a quantitative approach, descriptive type, and correlational design. The population and sample will consist of 30 nurses, with a non-probability convenience sampling method. To process and analyze the research data, the collected data will first be classified, then coded, and once collected, classified and processed according to the variables of the research. The SPSS version 26.0 statistical software will be used to generate frequency statistics tables based on the size and characteristics of the study variables; similarly, Microsoft Excel can be used to create charts and tables.
