Ítem Acceso abierto Family functionality and aggressiveness in high school students from a private educational institution in Lima, 2019.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-07-23) Quique Torres, Angela Mercedes; La Torre Calderón, Helarf RogelioThe research aimed to understand the relationship between family functioning and aggression in secondary school students from a private institution in Lima. The study had a quantitative, descriptive-correlational approach with a non-experimental cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 453 students from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th year of secondary school, aged between 14 and 18. The instruments used were the Family Cohesion and Adaptability Evaluation Scale (FACES III) and the Aggression Questionnaire (AQ) by Buss and Perry. The results indicated a significant inverse relationship between the study variables (p < 0.05; r = -0.115). Similarly, an inverse relationship was found for physical aggression (p < 0.05; r = -0.115) and hostility (p < 0.05; r = -0.159) with family functioning. No correlation was found between family functioning and the other two dimensions of aggression: verbal aggression (p > 0.05; r = -0.007) and anger (p > 0.05; r = -0.052). It was inferred that students with adequate family functioning would develop lower levels of aggression.Ítem Acceso abierto Parenting styles and aggressiveness in high school students of a public educational institution in Metropolitan Lima, 2020(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2020-09-25) Ruiz Rojas, Gorbyn Voreny; La Torre Calderón, Helarf RogelioThe main objective of the research was to determine the relationship between parenting styles, expressed as authoritative, permissive, neglectful, authoritarian, and mixed, with aggression in secondary school students from a public educational institution in Metropolitan Lima, 2020. The methodology used was a quantitative approach of descriptive and correlational type, with a non-experimental design and cross-sectional nature. Data was collected using the Steinberg Parenting Styles Scale and the Buss and Perry Aggression Questionnaire. The total population consisted of 221 students, from 1st to 5th grade of secondary school, both sexes, ranging from 11 to 18 years old. The results determined that there is no relationship between parenting styles and aggression. It was also found that 81.4% of the students exhibited an authoritative style, 10% a permissive style, and 7.7% a mixed style. Most students presented a medium level of aggression (39.4%), using verbal aggression the most. It was concluded that as the scores on the commitment and behavioral control dimensions increase, aggression decreases.
