    Effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention on lower extremity care to reduce complications in patients with diabetes mellitus

    Objective: Systematize the effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention for the care of lower extremities to reduce complications in patients with diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: Observational and retrospective systematic review, which outlines the results of multiple investigations, based on evidence, identifying relevant studies to answer specific questions, the search was restricted to articles with text, using the grade system to assign the evidence and strength of recommendation. Results: In the final selection, 10 articles were chosen, including systematic reviews, controlled or randomized clinical trials, meta-analysis finding that 90% of articles affirm that nursing educational intervention in the care of lower extremities is effective for reducing complications. Conclusions: It was evident in the reviewed research that there is effectiveness of a nursing educational intervention in the care of the lower extremities to reduce complications (diabetic foot, disability) in patients with diabetes mellitus.
