Ítem Acceso abierto Critical review: consumption of a high-fat diet as a dietary risk factor for colorectal cancer.(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-12-07) Lamas Espinoza, Samantha Seribeth; Bohórquez Medina, Andrea LisbetAmong the 36 types of cancer, colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third leading cause of cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths. It should be noted that it is a type of cancer that is associated with obesity and eating patterns, and that could be related to a high consumption of fat in the diet. For this, the principles of evidence-based nutrition were used as a methodology. Likewise, a systematic search was carried out in 5 databases, Scopus, WOS, Pubmed, Embase and Science Direct, from the last 5 years, which allow us to answer the research question related to the consumption of high-fat diets, and the risk of colorectal cancer in adults. After the selection of articles, they were evaluated through a critical reading tool to determine the degree of recommendation and level of evidence. It was found that less adherence to a healthy diet such as the Mediterranean diet, or a reduction in foods rich in fiber, as well as a low consumption of dairy products or dietary calcium, is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer, as is excess of alcohol and red meat.
