Túpac Amaru de Ate – Vitarte, 2013–2014(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2015) Alcca Huayta, Brigida Veronica; Aquino Claudio, Sindy Paola; León Mejía, Enrique AugustoThe objective of the study was to investigate intestinal parasitosis in 100 children aged 2 to 10 years, caused by the dogs raised at home in the educational center Mi Pequeño Hogar located in the human settlement (AA.HH.) Túpac Amaru, Ate-Vitarte, during the period 2013–2014, using the direct method and the Willis method. It was found that 63% of the children presented some type of parasite. According to age group, the highest prevalence was observed in children aged 6 to 10 years, with 60.32%. By sex, females presented 49.21% parasitism and males 50.79%. The species found were: Entamoeba coli 42%, Endolimax nana 19%, Giardia lamblia 14%, Blastocystis hominis 7%, Ascaris lumbricoides 4%, Entamoeba histolytica 3%, and Hymenolepis nana 1%. Among the studied dogs, 50% were parasitized, and the species identified were: Toxocara canis 17.14%, Entamoeba coli 15.71%, Giardia lamblia 14.29%; associations of Giardia lamblia with Entamoeba coli 1.43%, and Toxocara with Giardia lamblia 1.43%. The parasite species identified in both children and dogs were: Entamoeba coli (42% in children, 17.14% in dogs) and Giardia lamblia (14% in children, 17.14% in dogs). With respect to conditioning factors, it was found that water supply came from tap water 72%, wells 25%, and cistern tanks 3%; disposal of excreta in toilets 72% and in latrines 28%; presence of vectors such as flies 98%, cockroaches 30%, and rodents 7%. Regarding hygienic habits, 92% of children washed their hands before eating, 79% after using the bathroom, 70% drank boiled water, and 81% washed fruits before eating.
