    Sepsis is one of the leading causes of high hospitalization rates and mortality in intensive care units for both adults and newborns. Sepsis diagnosis is often delayed due to symptom similarities with other conditions. Various diagnostic methods, such as procalcitonin levels and blood culture (hemoculture), are used, but not all healthcare centers have access to these tests due to shortages of materials and high costs. Thus, there is a need to explore the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio as a low-cost alternative and easy-to-access marker for presuming sepsis diagnosis.
