Publicación Acceso abierto Consumo y efectos adversos del anticonceptivo oral de emergencia en mujeres de 18 a 40 años atendidas en la botica Jhire Farma, Ate Lima 2024(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2025-02-27) Lino Salcedo, Cyndy Yesenia; Román Vásquez, Mario Pedro; Ñañez del Pino, DanielThe objective of this study is to determine the relationship between the consumption and adverse effects of emergency oral contraceptives in women aged 18 to 40 years attending the "Jhire Farma" pharmacy in 2024. Methodology: This is a basic study with an observational design, a quantitative approach, a correlational level, and a cross-sectional cut. A survey was conducted with 218 users of emergency oral contraceptives, selected through systematic probabilistic sampling. Results: 46.8% of the users were between 25 and 32 years old. 40.4% had a low level of knowledge about the contraceptive, 39% had a medium level, and 20.6% had a high level. 52.8% consumed it based on recommendations from family or friends, and 44.4% did not use regular contraceptive methods. In the last year, 36.7% used it once, and 31.7% used it twice. In one month, 59.2% used it once, 33.2% up to twice, and 7.8% up to three times. 63.3% reported adverse effects, with the most common being nervous disorders (41.3%), gastrointestinal issues (28.9%), and menstrual irregularities (31.7%). Conclusion: A significant relationship was determined between the consumption and adverse effects of emergency oral contraceptives in women aged 18 to 40 years attending the "Jhire Farma" pharmacy in Lima in 2024. The presence of adverse effects increases from 49.6% to 94.1% when monthly use rises from one to three times.
