Publicación Acceso abierto Uso racional de los medicamentos en pacientes del Seguro Integral de Salud, del Centro de Salud Ganímedes, San Juan de Lurigancho, octubre–diciembre 2017(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2018-05-04) Llanos Quispe, Lidia; Velasquez Ortiz, Virginia; Caldas Herrera, EmmaIntroduction: In Peru, the World Health Organization has estimated that more than 50% of all medications are prescribed and dispensed inappropriately, and 50% of patients take them incorrectly. The Objective of this research was to identify the rational use of medicines (RUM) in patients of the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS) at the Ganímedes Health Center in San Juan de Lurigancho from October–December. Method: A descriptive, observational, cross-sectional, and prospective study was conducted. The sample consisted of 334 patients. The instrument used was a 16-question survey, which was submitted to expert judgment by pharmaceutical chemists from Norbert Wiener University for validation. Results: It was identified that 75% of females aged 18 to 35 comply with the rational use of medicines. 81% of patients take their medications at the indicated time, complying with their treatment, but 93% stop taking their medications when they feel well, leading to non-compliance with their treatment. Conclusion: It was identified that 75% of patients with Comprehensive Health Insurance comply with the rational use of medicines, while 25% of patients do not.
