Publicación Acceso abierto Reflexiones sobre el uso del ChatGPT en actividades académicas de estudiantes de una universidad privada de Arequipa, 2025(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2026-03-30) Jaramillo Chinchay, Katherine Judith; Llerena Zea, Camilo Pablo; Herrera Álvarez, Ángela MaríaThe objective of this study was to analyze the meaning of the experiences lived in the use of ChatGPT in academic activities among dentistry students at a private university in Arequipa, 2025. It is a phenomenological design study, with a qualitative approach, employing a semi structured interview with 11 questions. The sampling method was non-probabilistic by convenience, as voluntary participation was requested from 12 third-year undergraduate dentistry students. The study revealed that students use ChatGPT for some academic activities, such as quickly findings information, because they distrust its reliability. They point out that its responses are superficial and do not promote critical thinking or independent learning. In research, it is used only as an initial support, since it tends to fabricate citations and is not a reliable source. In assessment, its use is minimal: very few employ it for exams, some for feedback on content, and others only to compare the information they obtain. It is concluded that ChatGPT is perceived as a useful academic tool, but of limited use and with restrictions in the development of critical thinking and autonomous learning, therefore ethical regulation of its use is required.
