Ítem Acceso abierto Quality of life of patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 2021-08-01) Chalco Ccapa, Irma Alejandra; Lovaton Laime, Janeth Mercedes; Mori Castro, Jaime AlbertoIts evolution to chronic kidney failure (CKD) constitutes a public health problem throughout the world. It is the result of the manifestation of various diseases, which is why its incidence and prevalence continually increase, which is why it is worrying. It is a disease with a fatal outcome in the short or medium term that affects many structures of the body, which is why it is also associated with a reduction in the quality of life. CKD is an essentially non-curable process, whose management is based on different modalities of replacement treatment. Hemodialysis is the most frequently used replacement therapy worldwide. Admission to hemodialysis treatment triggers a crisis situation; the patient must make an effort to adapt and redesign their life based on the limitations of their disease. It is a highly complex and demanding treatment, it can be very restrictive and involves profound changes in lifestyle. Although dialysis therapy allows people to prolong their lives and ensure their survival, it also affects the performance of activities of daily living and, in the long term, their quality of life. The decrease in quality of life has also been associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality in this population. Quality of life has to be understood as a harmonious set of satisfactions that the individual achieves in his or her daily life, taking into consideration the physical, psychological and social aspects. According to the above, this research aimed to identify the quality of life of the patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment and with the results obtained they will help us to carry out programs such as promotion, prevention and strategies that will be focused on improving the quality of life of these patients.
