    Anthropometric and biochemical nutritional status in pre-surgical adult women with breast cancer at a specialized institute, 2017

    Breast cancer is the most common type among women and one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Nutritional risk factors associated with this condition include excess weight and abdominal fat accumulation. Objective: To determine the nutritional, anthropometric, and biochemical status in pre-surgical adult women with breast cancer at a specialized institute - 2017. A descriptive observational cross-sectional study was conducted on 215 women with pre-surgical breast cancer aged 19 to 59 years, evaluated from July to October 2017. Anthropometric and biochemical data were collected. The data were processed using SPSS version 22. Of the 215 women with breast cancer, 74.9% were in the 40 to 59-year age group. Of these, 68.3% had excess weight (40.9% overweight and 27.4% obese), and 90.7% had elevated waist circumference. In the biochemical measures, 32.2% had anemia, and 44.9% had some degree of immunosuppression. Conclusions: It is necessary to work more with this group of patients to improve their nutritional status through educational programs and individualized nutritional monitoring.

    Association between depression, sleep quality, physical activity, abdominal circumference cut-off point and risk of obesity in workers of a public health institution, Lima, 2019

    Objective: Determine the association between depression, physical activity, sleep quality and abdominal circumference cut-off point and risk of obesity in workers of a public health institution, Lima, in 2019. Materials and methods: Type of study quantitative and descriptive cross-sectional, correlational approach, with a population consisting of 65 people. To collect information, initially, anthropometric measurements (weight, height, waist circumference) were used; Subsequently, questionnaires such as: Beck Inventory (BDI-II), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) were used as associated factors of said research. Results: The cut of the waist circumference was taken in both sexes, the mean and standard deviation were 95.24 ± 12.32 in men and 83.90 ± 10.23 in women showing moderate risk and classified as high risk 10 men (40%) and 15 women (37.50 %) indicating android obesity. 92% of men and 87.50% of women do not have depression, while according to sleep quality, 48% of men and 32.50% of women have poor quality of sleep and require medical attention. Finally, in the categorization of physical activity, 76% of men and 77.50% of women practice physical activity at a high and vigorous level.

    Consumption and knowledge of industrialized products with octagons in times of pandemic at a Private University in Lima, Peru

    The objective of this study was to evaluate the level of consumption and knowledge of industrialized products with octagons that students of a Private University in Lima have in times of pandemic, for which a deductive methodology was used under a descriptive quantitative approach. non-experimental cross-sectional, aimed at a sample of 220 students belonging to the Faculty of Nutrition, who were selected through convenience sampling. A questionnaire composed of 15 questions was used as a data collection instrument to determine the level of consumption and knowledge of processed foods in times of pandemic, which showed that around 60% of students consume industrialized and processed products without consider nutritional warning labels; On the other hand, around 63.01% do not have a clear understanding of the meaning of nutritional octagons, which makes it difficult for consumers to privatize consumption, with the consumption of these foods being a constant habit without taking into account the repercussions for health. nor the corresponding labels; Thus concluding that it is necessary to deepen nutritional education in early childhood stages to create healthy consumption habits and identification of processed products for health.

    Critic review: influence of trans fat consumption on the quality of life of patients with metabolic syndrome

    The research is titled: Influence of the consumption of trans fats on the quality of life of patients with metabolic syndrome, the objective is to determine the impact of the consumption of saturated fats on the quality of life, at a physical and intellectual level in obese patients. The methodology was Evidence-Based Nutrition. The databases used: PUBMED, ELSEVIER, COCHRANE, SCIELO. Finding 11 articles and 6 were selected. They were evaluated using the CASPE instrument, which is used for critical review. Finally, the Meta-analysis titled “Reduction in saturated fat intake due to cardiovascular disease” was selected, which has a level of evidence IA and Strong Recommendation Grade, according to the researcher's judgment. The critical comment made it possible to determine that more research is needed to specify the benefits in the quality of life, in the emotional area, of the consumption of saturated fats in patients with metabolic syndrome, in the long term.

    Critical review: effect of omega 3 supplementation in children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.

    An information search was carried out in the databases PUBMED, SCIENCE DIRECT, NCBI, COCHRANE LIBRARY, THE JOURNAL OF PEDIATRICS, finding 43 articles, 10 being selected, which have been evaluated by the CASPE critical reading tool, finally the selected article allowed us to conclude that, when omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA; in a ratio of 3:2 (450-1300 mg / day)) were supplemented during 6 months did not show a significant effect on the reduction of liver fat according to the study. Supplementation with omega-3 showed significant changes in the levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGTP) in children with NAFLD compared to placebo and suggested that omega-3 may be useful in patients. with NAFLD to prevent other complications, such as cardiovascular diseases.

    Critical review: influence of physical activity on health status in patients with Breast Cancer.

    Breast cancer is caused by aberrant behavior of some types of cells in the breast tissue. This research entitled critical review: Influence of physical activity on the health status in patients with CaMa, has the question: What is the influence of physical activity on the health status of patients with CaMa? using the “Evidence-Based Nutrition” (NuBE) methodology. To search for information, the following databases were accessed: Breast Cancer Research. Scielo, Revista Salud Pública, Physiological Reports, Pubmed, British Medical Journal and The Oncologist, finding a total of 10 articles, which were evaluated with the help of the CASPe tool (tool for the “critical reading of clinical evidence”). The article titled: “Aerobic and resistance exercise improves physical fitness, bone health, and quality of life in overweight and obese breast cancer survivors: a randomized controlled trial” was selected, with level of evidence 1 and grade strong recommendation. The critical analysis allowed us to conclude that a structured 12-week aerobic and resistance exercise intervention has a positive influence on improving the quality of life of breast cancer survivors.

    Critical review: Nutritional strategies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

The present research defined as a critical review, with the title: nutritional strategies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, aimed to determine nutritional strategies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and their effect on the reduction of biochemical results. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (Cloud) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, MEDLINE, SCIELO, and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 26 articles, of which 13 were selected that have been evaluated through the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Systematic Review entitled: Food sources of Fructose-containing sugars and glycemic control: systematic review and meta-analysis of controlled intervention studies a systematic review, which has a level of IIA evidence and a high Grade of Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical comment allowed us to conclude that The results of the study are related to the research objective, the authors show the effects of different food sources of sugars containing fructose on glycemic control at different levels of energy control. Likewise, the study showed that fruits and fruit juices have a beneficial interaction in glycemic control, which agrees with multiple studies that refer to the benefits of complex carbohydrates derived from fruits, vegetables, legumes and whole grains in the treatment of hyperglycemia and cardio-metabolic risks.

    Critical Review: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer

    The present research defined as a critical review, with the title: Obesity in women over 15 years of age as a predisposing factor for ovarian cancer, aimed to identify the direct and indirect relationship of obesity and its influence on the onset of ovarian cancer in pre- and post-menopausal women. The Evidence-Based Nutrition (Cloud) methodology was used. The information search was carried out in PUBMED, HINARI, MEDLINE, SCIELO, SCOPUS and SCIENCE DIRECT, finding 78 articles, of which 30 were selected that have been evaluated through the CASPE critical reading tool, finally selecting the Systematic Review entitled Obesity and risk of ovarian cancer: a systematic review, which has a level of evidence IIA and Grade of Strong Recommendation, according to the expertise of the researcher. The critical commentary allowed us to conclude that more research is needed to determine the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to the risk of ovarian cancer in obese women. However, there is evidence available that links obesity with some histological subtypes of ovarian cancer. More studies are needed to establish this relationship by histological subtypes of ovarian cancer related to obesity.

    Expenditure on food consumption outside the home, and how much it represents of family income, in households with the presence of children under five years of age and households with the presence of older adults- 2017.

    The objective was to determine the expenditure on food consumption outside the home (GCAH) and how much it represents of family income, in households with children under five years (HCN<5A) and households with elderly adults (HCAM) - 2017. The research design used was cross-sectional, descriptive, and quantitative, based on the aggregation and analysis of data obtained from the National Household Survey (ENAHO) 2017. The result shows that GCAFH in HCN<5A is S/ 3280.40, representing 8.29% of their income, and in HCAM it is S/ 2407.80, representing 6.83% of their income. It was concluded that GCAFH is higher in HCN<5A. In the case of households with the highest expenditure, these are the ones that do not have elderly adults in the household composition. It is necessary to control the quality of food sold outside the home, so that those who buy and consume have a healthy food option.

    Factores que influyen en la evaluación de láminas de baciloscopia en el centro materno infantil Rímac de enero - diciembre del 2022

    El objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar factores que influyen en la evaluación de láminas de baciloscopia en el Centro Materno Infantil Rímac de enero - diciembre del 2022. Para ello se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo, transversal y retrospectivo. Esta investigación se realizó en el servicio de laboratorio del Centro Materno Infantil Rímac. El proceso se dio respetando el manual(OPS) de diagnóstico bacteriológico para la tuberculosis, con duración de enero – diciembre del 2022 (12 meses) con muestras, se realizó las lecturas de 304 láminas de tuberculosis que fueron el 100% de las muestras que se procesaron en la fecha de estudio realizada. Los resultados muestran que la cantidad definida como no adecuado arrojo un 48.0 %, la muestra adecuada fue de 49.7 %, mientras que en el tipo de muestras que se encontró, que eran salivales en un 53.9%, y la muestra mucosa en un 38.2 %. La variable evaluación de extendido de láminas para baciloscopia se encontró un porcentaje de 11.5% como deficientes, mientras que el 88.5 % tuvo una técnica buena. La evaluación de la coloración en láminas de baciloscopía mostró que un porcentaje de 5.3 % fueron deficientes, y el 94.7 % se encontró que fueron buenas. La evaluación de la lectura de las láminas mostró que el 2.3 % fueron deficientes, mientas que el 97.7 % fueron buenas. Se concluye en este estudio que los factores si influyen en la evaluación de láminas de baciloscopía, fueron cantidad de muestra, tipo de muestra, conservación y almacenamiento, técnica de extendido, técnica de coloración, y técnica de lectura, totas estas variables mostraron un valor p<0,05, la variable cumplimiento de las normas técnicas mostró un valor P=0.527, no estando asociada a la evaluación de las láminas.

    Factors associated with access to social nutritional programs in the Peruvian population, ENAHO 2022

    Introduction: Nutritional social programs are designed to promote healthy eating in the population. Objective: To determine the factors associated with access to nutritional social programs in the population of Peru according to the National Household Survey (ENAHO) in 2022. Methodology: A secondary data analysis was conducted using the ENAHO 2022 database. The independent variable was the associated factors, and the dependent variable was access to nutritional social programs. Results: Of 68,995 inhabitants, 60.4% were female, and the average age was 37.2 years. Furthermore, 32.3% of people accessed nutritional social programs, including Vaso de Leche (8.4%), Comedor Popular (2.2%), QALI WARMA breakfast (25.5%), and QALI WARMA lunch (6.9%). It was found that marital status (p<0.001), employment status (p<0.001), and cooking fuel (p<0.001) were associated with access to nutritional social programs. Conclusion: There are factors associated with access to nutritional social programs in the Peruvian population according to the ENAHO 2022, including marital status, employment status, and type of fuel.

    Factors that influence the eating habits of gamers and esports players – Perú 2023

    The objective of this research was to identify factors that influence the eating habits of video gamers and professional eSports players, Peru - 2023. Specific objectives: Determine the sociodemographic factors of video gamers and professional eSports players, Peru - 2023, determine the Eating habits of video gamers and professional eSports players, Peru – 2023. Materials and methods: This research uses a descriptive method, with a quantitative approach. and non-experimental design. The questionnaire was validated by expert judgment and had a population of 288 participants. Results: It was evident that 45.5% have adequate water consumption. In relation to other drinks, 52% (n=150) of participants never consume energy drinks. 25% of the total respondents consume soft drinks at least 1 or 2 times a week. 45.9% feel that family customs influence their habits and 34% feel that advertising in the gamer environment influences their habits. Conclusions: This research has allowed us to observe that eating habits are not so far from those evident in general populations. Home traditions, as well as advertising, have been the factors that they considered to have the most influence in relation to their diet.

    Food knowledge and nutritional state of the patient with hemodialysis of limeño hospital, february 2019

    In chronic kidney disease, protein malnutrition is common and one of the causes is poor nutrition. The assessment of nutritional status should be a common practice and dietary education is very important to correct questions about your diet and avoid complications. The objective was to associate how much the patient knows about his diet and his nutritional status. Quantitative, descriptive, correlational study, with non-probabilistic sampling of convenience technique. We worked with a sample of 65 patients with chronic kidney disease with hemodialysis, from a Lima hospital in February 2019, selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Validated and reliable instruments were used. STATA version 23 was used for data analysis. 9% presented moderate malnutrition and 91% mild malnutrition. Regarding how much does the patient know about his diet? 22% showed high or adequate knowledge, 32% low. knowledge and 46% average knowledge. It is concluded that there is no association between nutritional status and how much you know about food.

    Nutritional Issues in Health-Related Weekly Dispensed Around Four Category III Hospitals in Central Lima, 2019

    Objective: To assess the nutritional content of the information obtained in health weeklies distributed in the surroundings of four category III hospitals in Central Lima. Methodology: The research has a mixed and cross-sectional approach. 37 copies of 4 weeklies aimed at health were purchased (My health, Natural health, Sol, medic and beauty and Health, money and love) which kept their editions on sale during the time of data collection. Result: The weeklies with the highest percentage of pages dedicated to nutrition are Mi Salud (41.67%), Salud Natural (48.6%) and those with the lowest percentage are Sol, medic y beauty (19.37%) and Salud,mone y love (18.34%). Of the 185 articles, three groups were classified that determined the validity of the information. 50% of the articles contained correct information, 46% incorrect information and 4% counterproductive information. Conclusion: This study reveals that 46% of nutrition publications contain incorrect nutritional information and 4% are called counterproductive. This indicates that editors are not applying journalistic principles and shows the importance of interdisciplinary work, between nutritionists and journalists, when it comes to population health.

    Preparation and acceptability of a cereal bar based on oats, chocolate, nuts and enriched with iron, in the students of the Norbert Wiener Private University.

    This research aimed to determine whether a product, such as a cereal bar made with oats, chocolate, nuts, and enriched with iron, was acceptable to university students. Three different formulations were prepared with varying concentrations of chocolate and iron. The third formulation had the best acceptability. It was demonstrated that a novel product can be offered, which, in addition to providing energy, is a nutritious snack that provides iron and can cover a significant percentage of the daily requirement of this essential mineral.

    Preparation and acceptability of a granadilla drink based on whey, in the students of the Norbert Wiener Private University.

    The objective of this research was to identify the acceptability of a whey-based passion fruit drink in students at the Norbert Wiener Private University Materials and Methods: The study is cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical. Three formulations were prepared at different concentrations: formulation 1 (whey 82%, passion fruit juice 15% and sugar 3%), formulation 2 (whey 50%, passion fruit juice 48% and sugar 2%) formulation 3 (whey 50%, passion fruit juice 50% and sugar 0%). A hedonic sensory test was developed that allowed us to determine the characteristics of flavor, color, smell, texture and acceptability, applied to 100 students from different faculties of the University. Physical, chemical and microbiological analyzes were carried out on the winning drink. Results: Formulation number two (50% whey, 48% passion fruit juice and 2% sugar) is the one that showed the highest ranges in terms of the acceptability test p<0.05. The physicochemical composition resulted in: fat 0.55% protein 0.85%, carbohydrates 12.40%, humidity 85.75% and ash 0.50%; Regarding the microbiological analyses, an absence of Salmonella, E coli and ranges <3 MPN/ml of Total Coliforms were found. Conclusions: Through the hedonic test, differences were found between the three formulations, with formulation 2 having the best acceptance by the panelists, while the microbiological analyzes show that the whey-based passion fruit drink is free of microorganisms. complying with the Sanitary Standard that establishes the microbiological criteria of sanitary quality and safety for foods and beverages for human consumption.

    Preparation of bread enriched with cocoa and determination of its antioxidant capacity

    The purpose of this research was to establish the antioxidant capacity in a cocoa-based enriched bread. Two types of formulations of said bread were made. In addition, the organoleptic properties were quantified: taste, structure, aroma, coloration and eligibility. For this, 100 untrained panelists participated, who belonged to the Professional Academic School of Human Nutrition of the Norbert Wiener Private University, and an unstructured hedonic range with a score from 1 to 5 was used. On the other hand, It was determined that they are equal with respect to the intensity of: color, texture, acceptability, but with differences in the average between the two types with respect to flavor intensity. On the other hand, there is a difference in the dispersion of the responses with respect to the median or shortened mean of the odor intensity.

    Descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach. The population consisted of 46 complementary food products for children aged 6 to 35 months, with data collected from March to August 2018. Nutritional labels provided data on sugar, sodium, and saturated fat content, which was transferred to an Excel table and analyzed using SPSS 23. Cut-off points used: for sugar in liquid foods (LF): ≥ 6g / 100ml, in solid foods (SF): ≥ 22.5g / 100g; for saturated fat in LF: ≥ 3g / 100ml, in SF: ≥ 6g / 100g; for sodium in LF: ≥ 100mg / 100ml, in SF: ≥ 800mg / 100g. Conclusion: 50% of liquid products exceeded the sugar limits for advertising warnings, and 38% of solid products exceeded sugar limits. None of the products exceeded the limits for saturated fat or sodium.
