Ítem Acceso abierto Factors associated with teenage pregnancy in pregnant women attending Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho(Universidad Privada Norbert Wiener, 1905-07-07) López Untiveros, Lizbeth Nohely; Luna Vásquez, Sara Stefany; Arispe Alburqueque, Claudia MilagrosObjective: To determine the factors associated with adolescent pregnancy among pregnant women attending the Hospital San Juan de Lurigancho in 2014. Material and Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. A questionnaire was administered to 384 adolescent pregnant women in the obstetric psychoprophylaxis area and outpatient clinics during the period from January to March 2014. Results: Regarding individual factors, the age group with the highest prevalence was 19 years, with 22.7%. The marital status of single was reported by 59.6% of the participants. The majority of adolescents were homemakers (43%). Concerning family factors, 12% of the mothers had experienced pregnancy during adolescence. Regarding social factors, 62.5% of the participants reported a monthly income between 600 and 1000 soles. Conclusions: The individual factors associated with adolescent pregnancy include being 19 years old, unmarried, having completed secondary education, and being a homemaker. The average age of menarche was 12 years, and the average age of sexual initiation was 15 years. Most adolescents had one sexual partner and used contraception, with condoms being the most frequently used method.
