    Uso de plantas medicinales en pobladores del distrito de San Luis Cañete, Lima 2022

    The objective of this research was to evaluate the use of medicinal plants among residents of the San Luis Cañete district, Lima, in 2022. This was a deductive study with a quantitative applied approach and a cross-sectional observational design. An 11-question questionnaire was developed to evaluate the frequency, usage characteristics, knowledge level, and perceived effectiveness. Results: 49% of the population used medicinal plants to alleviate illnesses, while 25.9% and 24.3% used them for prevention and treatment, respectively. The most frequent use was monthly (33.5%), and the most common ailment was COVID-19. The most used plants were eucalyptus (45.2%), chamomile (13.1%), and plantain (12.8%), with the most common part of the plant used being the leaves (86.4%), prepared most often as an infusion. 73.6% of residents reported using these plants for more than 10 years. 27% of the surveyed population had no knowledge of the plants' properties, but 93.2% knew that medicinal plants can cause adverse effects if not used properly. Additionally, 94% of residents stated that medicinal plants help treat their ailments.
