    Work stress is the result of the imbalance between the demands and pressuresthat people face every day, under unsatisfactory working conditions, being afrequent problem in university students, by influencing their academicperformance. The general objective of this study was to determine the influence ofwork stress on the academic performance of second-year nursing students in theneonatal area of Norbert Wiener University in 2019. The type of study was quantitative, applicative, correlational, transversal. Thesampling was not probabilistic (intentional). The instruments were the validatedMaslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and academic performance record sheet. Thesample consisted of 60 students of both sexes. With respect to the results it can be stated the following: According to thedimensions of work stress, the emotional exhaustion was low in 75% of students,the depersonalization was medium (48.33%) to low (45%), personal fulfillment washigh at 86.17% and 70% of students, achieved an academic performance of ¹passed (11-14). In this way, it was possible to establish that emotional exhaustion, personalfulfilment and depersonalization as dimensions of work stress, do not statisticallyinfluence the academic performance of second-degree nursing students in theneonatal area of Norbert Wiener University in 2019, however depersonalizationreached a significant percentage with medium and low level.
