    Efficacy of apneic oxygenation during oxygen desaturation in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation

    Material and Methods: Systematic observational and retrospective review, subjected to critical reading and using the GRADE evaluation system to identify the degree of evidence of the articles published in the following databases: Sciencedirect, PubMed, Epistemonikos, Scielo, Researchgate. Of the 10 articles systematically reviewed, 50% (n= 5/10) are meta-analyses, 20% (n= 2/10) are a systematic review, 20% (n= 2/10) are randomized controlled trials and 10% (n= 1/10) are cohort studies and come from the countries of Australia (30%), followed by the United States (30%), Canada (20%), Brazil (10%) and Italy (10%). Results: 80% (n=8/10) indicate that apneic oxygenation is effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubation. 20% (n=2/10) indicate that apneic oxygenation is not effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubation. Conclusion: apneic oxygenation is effective in reducing oxygen desaturation in patients during endotracheal intubation
