(2002) in his article: Importance of Emotional Intelligence, a new challenge for educational guidance cites Salovey and Mayer (1990, p.189) who coined for personal intelligence (in Gardner's terminology) the denomination of emotional intelligence (lE), which they defined as «the capacity to supervise the feelings and emotions of oneself and of others, to discriminate between them and to use this information for the orientation of one's own action and thought »Here emerges self-management, which is the capacity for individual action, the freedom to handle one's own affairs. The objective of the study was to evaluate the self-management in emotional intelligence and its relation with the teaching performance in the Professional Academic School of Medical Technology of the Norbert Wiener University, 2017. The type of research is applied, the nonexperimental design, the population was conformed by the students of the specialty of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation and the sample was represented by 40 students, the type of sampling is intentional or nonprobabilistic for convenience. With respect to the techniques, the survey was used and the questionnaires as instruments. As a result of the study, 0.461 is obtained by applying the Spearman correlation coefficient test, corroborating the general hypothesis.
