    Indiscriminate use is causing the emergence of bacteria that are resistant to previously effective antibiotics. How can the knowledge that patients can acquire about the correct use of antibiotics transmitted by healthcare personnel help prevent the emergence of resistant bacteria? Objective: To evaluate knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance, after an educational intervention, in patients at the López Silva Maternal and Child Center - Villa el Salvador, period July to September 2019. Methodology: This work is a longitudinal and pre-experimental study, with a quantitative approach. The sample size was 268 patients who were treated at the López Silva Maternal and Child Center during the months of July to September 2019. Results: After the educational intervention, it shows positive results since 86.4% of the patients surveyed revealed a high level of knowledge and 8.6% reached medium knowledge, only 5% of the patients surveyed presented a low level of knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance. Conclusion: Knowledge about antibiotics and bacterial resistance in patients at the López Silva Maternal Center increased, demonstrating that the educational intervention had a positive effect.
