    Effectiveness of the use of mannitol versus hypertonic solution in neurocritical patients with brain injuries

    Objective: To analyze and synthesize the evidence on the efficacy of mannitol versus hypertonic solution in neurocritical patients with brain injuries. Materials and methods: This systematic review is observational and retrospective. Searches were conducted across various databases, but finally, articles with full text were selected and critically reviewed, using the GRADE assessment to identify the level of evidence. Results: Of the 10 articles reviewed, 9/10 articles show that the use of hypertonic solution has greater efficacy in managing neurocritical patients with brain injuries, accounting for 90%. Among these, 10% of the articles do not consider the data sufficient to define the efficacy between these treatments. Conclusions: The systematic review demonstrated that hypertonic solution is more effective in neurocritical patients with brain injuries, showing better cerebral perfusion and increasing the survival rate of the neurocritical patient.

    EFICACIA DEL USO DEL MANITOL VERSUS LA SOLUCION HIPERTONICA EN PACIENTES NEUROCRITICOS CON LESIONES CEREBRALES

    OBJETIVO: Analizar y sintetizar las evidencias sobre la eficacia del uso del manitol versus la solución hipertónica en pacientes neurocríticos con lesiones cerebrales. MATERIAL Y METODO: La presente revisión sistemática es de tipo observacional y retrospectivo, se realizaron búsquedas de diversas bases de datos, pero finalmente se ha seleccionado a los artículos con texto completo, y los artículos se sometieron a una lectura crítica, utilizando la evaluación GRADE para identificar su grado de evidencia. RESULTADOS: De Los 10 artículos revisados, 9/10 artículos muestran que el uso de la solución hipertónica tiene mayor eficacia en manejo de pacientes neurocríticos con lesiones cerebrales considerándose un 90%, de los cuales encontramos que el 10% no consideran los datos suficientes para llegar a definir la eficacia entre uno de estos tratamientos. CONCLUSIONES: Con la revisión sistemática realizada se evidencio que existe mayor eficacia en el uso de solución hipertónica en pacientes neurocriticos con lesiones cerebrales mostrando de esta manera mejor perfusión a nivel cerebral y elevando el porcentaje de vida del paciente neurocritico.
